Light for All

John’s gospel was different from the gospels of Mark, Luke and Matthew. John deals with the mystery of the deity of Jesus. Quite honestly I find it hard to read John unless I’m in complete silence. My professor said that he has taught the Gospel of John for over 20 years and still finds new things in the book! The other gospels focus more on the genealogy of earthly ancestors, early life, public ministry and crucifixion of Jesus. John kicks things off with a bang! No build up here. John is setting the table for the Light, the Word, who was with God and was God in the beginning and was now made flesh. Take a breath!

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.  John 1:9

I love this because it’s more than a broad statement, it’s a personal one! We tend to look at the word everyone and think about a group, when in fact the true Christ was coming to give light to each individual. It was and is a personalized love! But it also means that we would all be personally exposed. Life had been lived in darkness for so long, spending so much time bumping into walls and wandering aimlessly because we had no direction, no lamp to guide us down the path.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was his own, but His own did not receive Him.  John 1:10

Imagine a child who you helped create. You raised, loved, provided for, and protected your child. Yet, one day, your child rejected you. How sad and disappointed, broken-hearted and devastated would you be? Imagine Jesus, creator and giver of all life, being rejected by the world that was created through Him. I’m so thankful that His mission was bigger than our (my) rejection! That just goes to show His love for us collectively and individually.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.  John 1:12

He opened up the Kingdom for everyone! There was to be a rebirth with the acceptance of the Son, the Light. If you accept Christ, you are now a child of The God.

It doesn’t get any better than that!

26. Daughter. Sister. Aunt. Friend. Student. Servant. It is my passion to live the "GRATE" life as opposed to the "great" life. I'm grateful. I work as a CO to earn my paycheck, but I am a minister for a living. Realized that my heart longed for a relationship with my Creator. I couldn't outrun Him, so now I intentionally seek Him. And in my spare time I like to jump out of perfectly working air planes. ✈️
