We all want our children to do as we ask. Nothing is more troublesome than an disobedient child.
I remember growing up my older brother seemed to get anything he asked of my mom. At least it seemed that way. But, let’s be honest, my brother was an obedient kid. My other brothers and I called him a “momma’s boy”. He never got into any trouble, unless he was trying to protect me, and that was often.
Our Father God wants us to obey Him as well. He tells us in His word that to disobey or rebel against Him is as witchcraft. I Samuel 15:23
Wow! That’s pretty serious stuff dude.
What if we all thought about that scripture when we were ready to do something wrong? Ready to do our “own thing”
Obviously, we need to have a relationship with God, so that we know what He expects of us.
Personally, I know when I’m ready to disobey God, there is a war going on inside me. I can’t rest. I sometimes try to convince myself it’s alright.
When I finally give in to His Spirit and Will, I experience the peace of God. You Know, that peace that passeth all of our earthly understanding.
Recently, I was struggling to do something that I knew wasn’t right. I wanted it my way. I couldn’t sleep and I was experiencing anxiety. The moment I decided it wasn’t worth it and I began to reject the idea of doing the wrong thing, I felt relieved. I was at peace.
I don’t know about you but I have to constantly remind myself that my relationship with the Lord is the most important thing in the world. I may not always want to please Him, but I’m glad He doesn’t give up on me.
We can’t fool Him anyway, He knows our heart.
