There’s a hot button term that we’re seeing pop up everywhere in these times: “Social Distancing”. What exactly is that?
Social distancing is a term used to describe certain actions taken by the Public Health officials to stop or slow down the spread of a highly contagious disease. Nowhere in that description does it mention running out and hoarding whatever you can get your hands on. Nowhere in that description does it mention you can’t call a loved one, video chat, email, etc.
This is not a time to simply put your life on pause. While you may feel yourself being isolated yourself from the world, this is a great time to look within yourself with your newfound free time. Reassess matters of the heart.
What am I saying? This is a great time to get even closer to God. Just because you’re laid off doesn’t mean our Savior is. Just because you’re laid off from work doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done in the spiritual realm. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners and purify your hearts, you double-minded”.
May you draw closer to God not only in times like these but in all times. Trust in God to provide all that we need.
